McLaren would be preparing a major renewal of its sports cars and the Arturo could be one of the models left out of that new stage. The possible launch would be scheduled for 2028, although the British brand has not yet officially confirmed that calendar.

The move would make sense within a range that advances towards more powerful hybrid systems.

The Artura was conceived precisely as one of McLaren’s major steps toward electrification, but now the company would have plans to take that technology much further.

The first McLaren Artura will be delivered to customers in 2022. The sports car launched a platform developed from the outset to work with plug-in hybrid propulsion and combined a 3.0-litre biturbo V6 with an electric motor.

The set delivers 671 horsepower, although the way to get to the market was complicated. Deliveries were delayed and McLaren had to temporarily stop part of production to solve problems detected in the first units.

Over time, the brand applied improvements and expanded the family with the Artura Spider.H, its possible release in 2028 would mean that the model would have a relatively short commercial cycle.

The possible farewell of the Arturo would be related to a new sports car that McLaren develops internally under the name P34. Its arrival would be scheduled for 2027 and would again use a hybrid configuration with a biturbo V6 engine.

The difference is in the benefits. The future model would exceed the combined 800 horsepower, a figure considerably greater than that of the Artura and which would mark a new stage within the company’s hybrid range.

The 720S, 750S and 765LT are also approaching the end of their respective cycles, so McLaren would have ahead of a broad renewal of their offer.

The transformation could also lead the brand to new segments. Among the mentioned projects is a possible SUV, a category that has gained space within luxury firms and could considerably expand McLaren’s commercial reach.
