Sixty years after its appearance, the Toyota Corolla remains one of the most recognizable names in the automotive industry. To commemorate this trajectory, Toyota has prepared a special edition that will arrive in Europe with a differentiated appearance, more equipment and the well-known fifth-generation hybrid mechanics.

The celebration has behind it numbers that are hard to ignore. Since 1966, the Corolla has sold more than 57 million units worldwide. The model is currently manufactured at 12 plants and is available in 150 countries, with Europe as one of its major markets.

Now, the Japanese brand wants to turn part of that legacy into a commemorative edition that can be booked at European dealers and whose first deliveries are scheduled for late October or early November.
The 60th Anniversary Edition will be available in all three carrosseries that form part of the European range. Buyers will be able to choose between the five-door hatchback, the Touring Sports and the sedan.
Toyota has prepared some specific elements to make these units recognizable. The hatchback and the Touring Sports can wear the color New Boreal Blue, a metalized blue that combines with roof and pillars in Night Sky Black.
The sedan receives an exclusive alternative called Lunar Sky Blue.There are also other options such as the White Pearl Platinum and the Metalized Grey Ash.
The 17-inch alloy strains provide another of the distinctive traits. They have ten radios, matte finish and machined zones, while the thistles use a chrome black finish.
At the bottom of the car appear different elements in silver mate and the Touring Sports adds a specific detail to the rear paragliding. The back doors, in addition, carry the adhesives with the logo of the 60th anniversary.
The interior retains the usual architecture of the Corolla, although it incorporates some details of this edition. The door thresholds carry the commemorative distinctive and carpets combine black with silver mate inserts.
The equipment includes a 12.3-inch digital dashboard and a 10.5-inch touchscreen associated with the Toyota Smart Connect+ system.
The multimedia system offers cloud-based navigation and real-time traffic data, as well as the Toyota T-Mate package, which brings together much of the driving assistance functions.
Among them are the pre-collision system with intersection detection, adaptive cruise control, rail maintenance assistant, emergency direction and traffic sign recognition.
Another interesting point is the OTA updates. Some vehicle features may receive wireless improvements, preventing the owner from having to go to the dealer whenever a compatible update exists.
Toyota decided to keep the mechanical offer intact.The Corolla 60 Anniversary uses the fifth generation of the brand’s hybrid system and offers two alternatives.
The 1.8 litre engine develops 140 hp combined and is the only one available for the sedan.
For those looking for more power is the 2.0-litre hybrid system, with 178 hp. This option is reserved for the hatchback and Touring Sports cars.
Both configurations use a continuous variation automatic transmission, known as CVT, and maintain the ECO label. Toyota is thus striving to preserve one of the features that have made the Corolla a interesting alternative for everyday use.
The new edition can now be booked at European dealers.The first deliveries are scheduled for late October or early November.
Germany serves as a reference to know the prices of this edition. The Corolla hatchback with the 140 hp hybrid system has a price of 36,990 euros, which is approximately $43,000. With the 178 hp system, the price rises to 38,890 euros, about $45,200 dollars.
For the Touring Sports, the prices are from 38,590 euros with the 140 hp engine and 40,490 euros with the 178 hp.
Toyota also notes that this edition can save up to 1,200 euros compared to other equipment levels, equivalent to about $1,400.
The Corolla 60 Anniversary, therefore, does not change the formula that has accompanied the model in its six decades of history. The bet is to celebrate the birthday with a more exclusive image, a good amount of technology and a hybrid range that keeps your key credentials intact.
