Authorities in Boynton Beach, Florida, are investigating the death of a three-year-old girl who died days after being trapped in a toy kitchen while in the care of a babysitter.

The accident occurred on the morning of July 23 at a home in Palm Beach County. The minor was rushed to a hospital in critical condition and died on July 27, authorities reported.

According to the Boynton Beach Police Department, the two children were in the care of a babysitter, who left the home and left her spouse in charge of both.

According to the police version, the adult remained on the upper floor of the house while the minors played in the living room. During that time, I would come down occasionally to supervise them and bring them snacks.

It was during one of those inspections when he found the girl with her head trapped in a toy kitchen.

When officers arrived at the scene, they began resuscitation maneuvers before Boynton Beach Fire Rescue personnel transported the girl to a local hospital.

Despite medical efforts, the minor died four days later.

So far, authorities have not revealed the official cause of death.

Boynton Beach Police reported that the investigation remains open and that, at this time, no charges have been filed against anyone.

Neighbors of the family described the minor as part of a very loved family in the community.

A resident identified as Michelle told local media that she cannot imagine the pain the mother faces after the loss of her daughter and assured that since the accident “an atmosphere of sadness has been felt throughout the street.”

Following the case, Kathy Wall, president of Safe Kids Palm Beach County, called on parents and caregivers to maintain active supervision of minors.

“Our children are our greatest treasure, they are our future, and we must be present for them every day,” he said.

The specialist added that constant supervision is one of the main measures to prevent childhood accidents within the home.
