A man from Wisconsin, accused of harassing his ex-boyfriend for more than a decade, was allegedly found in possession of a disturbing collection of human skulls, bone remains and a bottle that allegedly contained part of the brain of serial killer John Wayne Gacy.
by Benjamin C. Larson, 47, resident of Fond du Lac, faces charges of serious harassment in Dane County after the woman contacted Madison police on July 31 and what she said were years of unwanted contact after her brief relationship in 2013, according to a criminal complaint obtained by WBAY.
The woman told investigators that she was dating Larson for two months before ending the relationship. Larson allegedly continued to try to contact her for the next 13 years through unsolicited letters, cards and emails.
She is also accused of filing complaints against her before professional colleges in several states after she stopped responding to her.
In November 2025, Larson allegedly sent a card to the woman’s workplace indicating that she would “continue trying to contact her” or that she would show up at her home.
A month later, she allegedly sent another card to her home, an address she claimed never to have given her, mentioning by her name her husband and son. It is also alleged that he was wandering through Madison as part of his therapy.
The allegations became even more disturbing after detectives executed a recording order at Larson's home on August 14.
Investigators said they had discovered an extensive collection in the basement, which included a copy of a tomb related to serial killer Edward Gein, 10 folders labelled “Edward Gein’s Book” and objects allegedly stolen from Gein’s tomb.
They also found cartridges similar to those used by the Zodiaco Killer, according to the recording results, WBAY.
Among the objects was a mummy labeled as “Prince Taheb 1600 BC. C.” and a bottle labeled as containing a fragment of Gacy’s brain. Gacy was executed in 1994 after being found guilty of the murder of 33 children and young people in Illinois.
According to the authorities, within a glass coffin were found what seemed to be six human skulls, a partial skull, a human jaw and other bone remains.
A forensic anthropologist is examining the remains to determine their authenticity and whether they are modern remains or ancient Native Americans, according to WBAY.
Within a bedroom in the basement, locked with a lock, the researchers found a realistic-looking silicone doll underneath a blanket on a bed, with a picture of a naked woman resembling the alleged victim of harassment hanging on it.
During the recording, a black folder with 25 pages of manuscripts belonging to Larson was found. In one post, he allegedly wrote about his frustration with the marriage and the woman’s son, saying, “It’s at times like this when I really want to tear them off the skulls, everybody.”
In another post, Larson allegedly described driving to the woman's house in Madison at night, dressed in black, with gloves and mask. He wrote that he watched the house with a machete, noted the registration and took three garbage bags.
Subsequently, agents found in her room a plastic container with objects belonging to the woman, including paper towels with dried blue flowers, a slope and bottles of refresh and beer discarded.
When questioned by the police, Larson stated that his communication with the woman was cordial and that his therapist suggested the complaints for her to answer. According to WBAY, Larson said he now understood that his silence was a response in itself.
Larson has been charged with bullying, being found guilty, he faces a sentence of up to three years and six months in prison and a fine of up to $10,000, according to authorities.
