An Airbnb tenant fired at a teenager who allegedly broke armed into a Fort Lauderdale home in Florida during a robbery attempt, authorities said.
Two armed men would have entered the property around 6:00 p.m. by m. On Thursday, September 24, they faced the tenant, according to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department quoted by CBS Miami.
During the riot, the tenant, whose identity was not revealed, fired at 18-year-old Dareon Pubien, who received a bullet impact in the chest.
After receiving the shot, Pubien allegedly left the house and fled on foot.
The officers who came to the scene managed to locate him after following a trace of blood that led to a nearby area, according to the report.
The young man was taken to a local hospital, where he remained in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery.
While Pubien was receiving medical care, the researchers continued with the research to determine what happened inside the home.
Another suspect was arrested.
Police also arrested 25-year-old Sean Thompson, a resident of Margate, Florida, who was identified as Pubien's alleged accomplice.
Thompson was arrested in connection with the alleged attempted invasion of the home and armed robbery.
Both suspects face charges for attempted murder in first instance during the commission of a serious crime and housing invasion with a firearm, according to reports.
Thompson was detained without bail.
Pubien must appear before a judge after being discharged from the hospital.
Neighbors heard a gunshot.
Arthur Butler Jr., who was near the scene, said he heard a gunfire coming from the area.
The man said he called 911 after hearing the gunfire.
“Maybe at least 10, and then everyone was running,” Butler Jr. told the television station.
Authorities have not identified the tenant who fired Pubien, nor have they whether charges will be filed against him.
