Michigan authorities are investigating the disappearance of three people who were allegedly taking a float trip down the Muskegon River, in a case that keeps an extensive search operation underway.

Michigan State Police identified the missing people as Jazzmin Hock, 28; Sarah Vida, also 28; and Kayden Kovalcik, 9 years old.

According to authorities, the three entered the river on Tuesday using orange and pink floats, but they have not been heard from since then.

The search began after the discovery of a vehicle

The investigation began when the father of one of the women found his vehicle parked at the Maple Island Boat Launch, an access to the Muskegon River.

According to the State Police, the car had a broken window, a discovery that prompted the authorities to intervene.

Relatives indicated that they have not been able to communicate with any of the three missing people since Tuesday.

Authorities maintain an operation in the area

More than 24 hours after the disappearance, Michigan State Police officers continued to conduct searches around the Muskegon River.

Authorities asked for the community's cooperation and urged anyone who may have seen the missing persons or observed the orange and pink floats to contact the Michigan State Police Hart Post, the Newaygo County Sheriff's Office or the county dispatch center.

So far, authorities have not reported any findings related to the case and the investigation continues.
