A woman identified as Karina Lizeth “N”, 25 years old and originally from Tijuana, was detained by agents of the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) when she was allegedly transporting firearms hidden inside a stuffed lion-shaped doll.

According to state authorities, the detainee would be related to a criminal cell that operates in the border city.

The capture occurred when the agents were carrying out surveillance work. According to official reports, the woman showed an evasive attitude when she noticed the police presence and tried to get rid of the stuffed animal before fleeing, so she was intercepted for a preventive search.

During the inspection, security elements located two firearms hidden inside the toy.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the woman was in charge of transporting weapons for a criminal group, using the stuffed animal to avoid being detected by the authorities.

The Secretariat of Citizen Security of Baja California reported that the seized weapons were allegedly used in confrontations between rival organizations that dispute control of illicit activities in the region.
