They capture the M4, alleged operator of the CJNG, in an operation in western Mexico
Along with the alleged boss, the authorities arrested nine other people identified as generators of violence in the center and west of the country.
The offensive of the Mexican authorities against organized crime resulted in the arrest this Sunday of 10 alleged members of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), among them José Guadalupe Ahumada Villegas, alias "M4", identified by the Government of Mexico as one of the operators of that criminal organization in the states of Nayarit and Tlaxcala.
According to the federal Security Cabinet, the capture was the result of a coordinated operation that included seven search warrants executed simultaneously in properties located in the municipalities of Tepic and Xalisco, in the state of Nayarit.
The proceedings were led by elements of the Secretariat of the Navy (Semar), in coordination with the Attorney General's Office (FGR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), after intelligence and surveillance work that allowed the identification of properties allegedly used by members of the criminal group.
According to official investigations, Ahumada Villegas served as coordinator of criminal operations for the CJNG in both entities and the detainees would be related to crimes such as homicide, kidnapping, extortion, drug dealing, theft from cargo transportation, arms trafficking and illegal extraction and marketing of hydrocarbons.
Blow to the financial structure of the CJNG
During the searches, the authorities seized three long weapons, three vehicles and various cell phones, in addition to assets whose combined value exceeds $228 thousand dollars, resources that, according to the federal government, directly impact the operational and financial capacity of the criminal organization.
The ten detainees were placed at the disposal of the Federal Public Ministry, a body that will continue with the investigations to determine their legal situation. Meanwhile, the intervened properties were under the protection of the ministerial authorities.
The Security Cabinet indicated that the operation was authorized by a Control judge, who issued the search warrants based on the elements obtained during the intelligence work carried out by the federal forces.
The authorities maintained that this operation represents a blow to the logistics and coordination of the CJNG in the region, while weakening part of its economic structure through the seizure of goods and equipment allegedly used for illicit activities.
The arrest of “M4” occurs in the midst of a federal strategy focused on capturing alleged regional operators of criminal organizations. In recent days, the arrest of Justo Aurelio Rivera Parrazales, identified as a logistical and financial operator of the Northeast Cartel, was also reported in an operation carried out in Mérida, Yucatán.
