BAFTAs announce their longlists and 'Battle After Battle' Leading with 16 nominations
The British Academy revealed the shortlists for all its categories, but the official nominees will be announced on January 27
Just days before the Critics ' Choice Awards ceremony, the awards season officially began. The 2026 BAFTA Honors longlists have been released by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
Around 221 movies were submitted for consideration, according to the announcement made by the renowned organization. Only a select few people made it to the election level for the vote, though.
With 16 nominations," Battle After Battle" is in the lead, followed by" The Sinners" and" Hamnet," with 14 each.
While" Marty Supreme" and" Frankenstein" by Guillermo del Toro each received 12," Marty Supreme" received 13 nominations. The inclusion of" Nuremberg" in the" Best Picture" type, which is regarded as a box office success in Spain, is one of the surprises on the list, which cements this positive response with six other shortlists from the British Academy. The election period for BAFTA election people will start on January 9 at 4 pm GMT and ends on January 20, 2026 at 6 am. The 2026 BAFTA Film Awards meeting on Sunday, February 22 does feature the announcement of the competing works and shows for the prestigious prize on BAFTA YouTube on January 27.
