Dolly Parton's voice resonates again in the music industry two weeks after her death. It officially released “Bound to Ride”, the country star’s first posthumous song. The song is part of the compilation album “Where the Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years of The Stanley Brothers”, a project to pay tribute to the legendary bluegrass brothers.
The song was recorded by the artist in 2022 from her personal studio. By that time, and as a precautionary measure during a outbreak of the covid-19 pandemic, Parton decided to work his parts separately. In the final track she is accompanied by the female supergroup First Ladies of Bluegrass, made up of outstanding instrumentalists such as Alison Brown, Becky Buller, Sierra Hull, Missy Raines and Molly Tuttle.
One of the most emotional details of the recording is that Dolly herself individually names each of the members of the group before their respective solo music, demonstrating their proximity and artistic generosity.
Album producer and bassist of Compass Records, Garry West, confessed the astonishment that caused the performance sent by the star. “She delivered what I call ‘the complete Dolly’. It surpassed our expectations and left us shocked; we’t have been able to get something better,” the producer said after reviewing the track received from the singer’s private studio.
“Bound to Ride” is a traditional classic originally popularized by The Stanley Brothers in 1964. The piece serves as the first advance to the full album that will be released on October 16th, a date prior to the official exaltation of The Stanley Brothers at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
The project will also feature Willie Nelson, Steve Martin, Ed Helms, Dierks Bentley and Billy Strings.
With this musical delivery begins the arrival of the artist’s stored material, whose legacy continues to move the lovers of traditional American music.
