Netflix has announced the release of “The One About Matthew Perry,” a new three-part documentary series devoted to exploring the life, professional trajectory and personal battles of the remembered “Friends” actor.

The film will premiere on October 27th, almost three years after the actor’s tragic and unexpected death at the age of 54.

Directed by award-winning Mary Robertson — known for her work in research productions such as “Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV” and “Framing Britney Spears” — and produced by Maxine Productions, the documentary promises to offer a more intimate portrait of the actor.

The central axis of the project will be built from testimonies from the actor’s relatives and relatives, including his sister, Mia Perry Bowick.

The artist’s family opened their personal files to include photographs and video recordings never seen before, allowing a timeline from his beginnings in acting to his dizzying rise to fame.

“It took me time to be ready to share these memories and explain what it meant to love Matthew throughout the complexity of his life,” Bowick said in a statement.

“I hope this series will give everyone who loved him a deeper appreciation of who he really was and the legacy he left behind,” he added.

Director Mary Robertson said that while the public celebrated for decades his acting talent and his comedy genius through Chandler Bing’s iconic character, the public knew only a part of his story. The series will openly address Perry’s tireless struggle against his addictions and his dedicated work of raising awareness about mental health and recovery.

With this announcement, Netflix seeks to pay a tribute that transcends the girls’ screen, highlighting the human facet, vulnerability and generosity that defined Matthew Perry beyond Hollywood’s mirrors.
