Both stars decided to open up to talk about the genuine bond that unites them, a relationship that gained special strength after sharing recent professional projects.
Although they formally met during the filming of the Marvel film “Eternals” (2021), it was in the film “Without Blood” — an adaptation of Alessandro Baricco’s book directed and adapted by Jolie, and starring Hayek alongside Demián Bichir — where the friendship between both reached a new dimension.
For 51-year-old Jolie, the moment their lives crossed was crucial to forging a deep understanding. “It’s nice that we met in this most advanced stage of our lives, because we went through very similar things and somehow we got, as older women, to a very similar place,” the Oscar winner said in statements collected by People magazine.
Jolie was even more emphasized on the value of this friendship: “To appreciate that friendship, that bond and that understanding, I didn’t have that kind of connection in my life.”
For her part, the 60-year-old Mexican performer highlighted the fullness and freshness with which she lives this bond. “I love your mind and I understand it. I think when you know someone understands you, you feel safe and you can be who you are in any circumstance,” Hayek said.
Also, he described among laughter how the intense working sessions during the filming in Italy, which transited with fluidity from passionate debate to tears of shock, always ending in shared laughter. “We talked about topics, we moved and then we said some stupidity and we died of laughter,” he recalled.
