In a move that surprised the industry, Cyrus changed her Instagram username from @mileycyrus to simply @miley, removing her famous surname from her social media and official website, which now focuses on the word “MILEY”. The move has sparked a wave of speculation about whether the artist plans to adopt a single-word artistic name for this new stage.
Change is not just digital. Cyrus shared an image of her face with a red and black aesthetic, captured by photographer Mert Alas, accompanied only by the legend “MILEY”. This same image, along with New York-based advertisements showing the word “NEARLY,” has fuelled rumors that a new album is on the way.
This turn comes shortly after Cyrus signed a new record contract with Atlantic Records in the early summer of 2026, marking the fourth label in his career. Previously, the artist had released her first three albums through Disney’s Hollywood Records, followed by four albums with RCA (including “Bangerz” and “Plastic Hearts”), and her last two works, “Endless Summer Vacation” and “Something Beautiful”, through Columbia.
Cyrus’ arrival at Atlantic represents a significant move for the label, which recently appointed Elliot Grainge as its new CEO. This alliance is expected to be one of the most important for the recording in the current musical landscape.
The new stage comes at an emotionally significant moment for the artist, following the recent loss of her mother-in-law, the country legend Dolly Parton. Cyrus shared that one of his latest conversations with Parton revolved around “music and metamorphosis,” a phrase that resonates powerfully with his own current transformation.
