Video sparks controversy

The post on TikTok, where the Administration has seven million followers, begins by showing several cuts of Trump while the Puerto Rican's already famous verse plays: “Applause for mommy and daddy, because they really broke up.”

In the video published this Thursday by the White House, the phrase appears translated into English as: “A round of applause for Donald J. Trump because he really crushed it.”

While the trumpets sound in the song, one of the most listened to from the album 'DtMF', which established the Puerto Rican artist as a global star, images of people arrested by immigration agents and close-ups of tied hands are shown.

The post shows the faces of some of those detained, while protecting the identities of the officers leading them.

Bad Bunny has criticized immigration policies

The official accounts of the Administration and Trump himself often spread memes, images made with artificial intelligence and videos in which they use fragments of songs that are trending on social networks.

Several artists, including Katy Perry and Noah Kahan, have previously denounced the use of their music to promote policies they disagree with.

The White House video has already accumulated more than 950,000 views on TikTok. Among the comments there are users who support the president for his strategy against irregular immigration, while others consider that the singer's music was used without respecting his public position.

“Bad Bunny could sue them for using their songs as political propaganda,” wrote one user.

The Puerto Rican singer, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has expressed on several occasions his rejection of the immigration policies promoted by the Republican administration and has avoided touring in the United States for that reason.

Their album 'Debí Tirar Más Fotos' pays tribute to the identity of Puerto Rico, while the song 'What happened to Hawaii' denounces gentrification and the loss of cultural identity.

For his part, Trump described Bad Bunny's performance at the Super Bowl as “terrible,” where the artist performed his songs completely in Spanish and defended cultural diversity.
