Ryan Garcia took to social media to thank the World Boxing Council (WBC) after the organization officially lifted his suspension and reinstated him in their rankings, putting him back on track to fight for a world title.

In a post on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Garcia expressed that he feels fully prepared to prove himself as a true champion and to represent the WBC with pride.

“I am officially unsuspended by the WBC. I want to thank the WBC for recognizing my efforts to change and for making this decision. I’m ready to wear that green and gold belt and represent it as a true champion,” wrote the Californian boxer.

It’s worth recalling that “King Ry” was expelled from the WBC in 2024 following a series of racist and discriminatory remarks made during a live stream, the same year he tested positive for banned substances after his bout against Devin Haney and publicly struggled with mental health challenges.

After undergoing a detailed evaluation, Garcia was found to have successfully met all of the WBC’s requirements for reinstatement, allowing him to once again compete under the organization’s banner.

According to boxing journalist Mike Coppinger of *The Ring* magazine, Garcia is now close to finalizing a deal to face Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight title in early 2026. Reports indicate that both fighters’ teams have already exchanged contracts.

The Californian boxer has long expressed interest in facing Barrios for the title, aiming to secure a lucrative matchup against Manny Pacquiao or a rematch with Rolando “Rolly” Romero afterward. However, some fans have criticized the WBC’s decision, believing Garcia is receiving an undeserved opportunity.

Now 25 years old, Ryan Garcia returned to the ring after a year-long suspension for doping but suffered his second professional defeat against Rolly Romero. The Mexican-American fighter currently holds a professional record of 24 wins (20 by knockout), two losses, and one no contest.
