John Bolton, former national security advisor, defines the agreement proposed by the Iranian government to President Donald Trump with the aim of ending the war as a “major defeat” for the United States.

Through a statement released by a White House official this Friday afternoon, it was made clear that there is still no formal agreement with the Islamic Republic that guarantees the end of the war conflict that began on February 28.

"The Crisis Room meeting has concluded and lasted approximately two hours. President Trump will only reach an agreement that is good for the United States and that satisfies his red lines. Iran will never be able to possess a nuclear weapon," he said.

However, from the perspective of John Bolton, the New York tycoon is negotiating inadequately with the Iranians due to the pressure represented by high gasoline prices prior to the midterm elections, where polls indicate that the Democrats will defeat their adversaries, as they will enforce the vote of punishment of millions of citizens affected by the economic policy promoted by Trump.

"I think this is a mistake. It is being carried out not because of any strategic analysis of its importance to the United States, but because of the fear that gasoline prices in the United States will rise.

He believes that if he manages to open the Strait of Hormuz, the world price of oil will go down, the price at gas stations here will go down, inflation will go down, and the chances of winning the November elections will improve. That is precisely what it is about. It is a great defeat for the United States,” he mentioned during an interview with the NewsNation television network.

The Baltimore lawyer also warned that the Tehran government's strategy consists of prolonging the ceasefire to have the time required in the process of manufacturing nuclear weapons, as it considers having left the United States without the necessary ammunition to defend itself against possible attacks from stronger nations.

“What Iran hopes is that, as this process drags on — and all the key issues are postponed — our forces will begin to weaken and they will be able to sell oil, replenish their assets, rebuild their military program and eliminate the biggest threat we have to the regime, which is the economic threat.

“They believe that we have a short attention span, that we are obsessed with the elections,” he emphasized.

It should be noted that during Trump's first term at the head of the White House, Bolton was the third National Security Advisor, but he only remained in office for 17 months, due to his constant views opposed to the Republican.

After his resignation, he published a memoir titled “The Room Where It Happened,” where he describes his time in the West Wing of the White House.

Since then, he has continued to be a fierce critic of Trump, who revoked his Secret Service protection days after returning to Washington.
