Mitch McConnell, senator from Kentucky, managed to leave the hospital where he remained hospitalized for almost two months, a period in which even Andy Beshear, governor of Kentucky, doubted his ability to continue serving as a legislator and demanded that he offer a voice message to the citizens, which he continues to omit.

The 84-year-old Republican has been repeatedly absent from his political obligations due to several episodes in which his integrity has been at risk to the point of ending up hospitalized.

McConnell has not been seen in public since June 14 when he was rushed to hospital due to an unspecified medical condition.

Although the legislator's office has issued several statements reiterating that his recovery is very advanced, the reality is that no one has yet mentioned a tentative date for him to reappear in the Senate.

Through a statement, the conservative politician announced that he will continue his recovery at home until further notice.

"Today I was discharged from rehab to continue my recovery at home. Elaine and I are grateful for the many outpourings of support and well wishes from friends, colleagues, and Kentuckians, as well as the attentive care I have received from excellent doctors, nurses, therapists, and hospital staff," he wrote.

Although at the time President Donald Trump called the long-serving legislator inefficient, there is enormous concern within the Republican Party that he will not be able to resume his duties, as that would mean reducing his short advantage in the Senate where they occupy 53 of the 100 seats.

"McConnell is an angry man. You know, he was kicked out of his position [as Senate Republican leader]. He's an angry guy. He should be very grateful to me because if I hadn't won, he wouldn't have gotten to this point," Trump said in mid-June during a meeting with the press held in the Oval Office.

McConnell's vulnerable state of health led Kirk Bangstad, owner of Minocqua Brewing Company - a brewery based in Wisconsin - and a severe critic of the senator's work, to commit to selling his drinks at 50% of their price as soon as his death was announced.
