Barack Obama, former president of the nation, did not hesitate to express that the United States would be in a worse situation than that experienced before declaring war on the Islamic Republic.

During an interview with the “Today” program, which is broadcast on the NBC News television network, the 64-year-old Democrat harshly criticized President Donald Trump for the enormous waste of resources used in a war conflict from which he still has not managed to emerge after almost four months.

“We have fought a war, spent billions of dollars, put our armed forces under enormous pressure, many people have died and it seems that we are back to square one of the war, only maybe a little worse,” he said.

Recently, the Republican who governs from the White House announced part of the content of the memorandum of understanding negotiated with the Islamic Republic, a document with 14 points aimed at establishing the bases for an agreement that officially allows the end of the war.

The commitment includes a $300 billion fund to help rebuild Iran, but Trump assures that not a single government dollar will be allocated for that purpose.

The key points of the document signed in Versailles are mainly summarized in: conclude the war and avoid future military actions and hostilities, not intervene in the internal affairs of both nations, establish a period of up to 60 days to reach a definitive agreement, lift naval restrictions and reduce its military presence in the area, allow vessel traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, promote a development program for Iran with an estimated financing of 300 billion dollars, eliminate the sanctions imposed on Iran and reaffirm the commitment of the Republic to completely renounce its nuclear program.

In this regard, Obama mentioned that the central point of the military offensive ordered by Washington was to prevent Iran from continuing with its uranium enrichment program, but later that objective took a back seat, causing a major problem that affected the commercial interests of other nations.

“The original reason for this war was that there was an agreement where Iran agreed not to develop nuclear weapons, this administration, or a previous one, withdrew from it, which caused Iran to develop greater nuclear capacity,” he stated.
