The president of the United States, Donald Trump, insisted this Monday on his Truth Social network that Iran "has requested a meeting that will take place tomorrow in Doha", after days of tension and exchange of attacks despite the ceasefire.

Shortly before, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister, Kazem Gharibabadi, had ruled out, in statements to the media in Oman, that technical meetings were scheduled this week.

Gharibabadi said the next round of technical talks would be held only when “the necessary conditions are in place” and once the date and venue have been agreed upon.

"Iran has requested a meeting. It will take place tomorrow in Doha," Trump posted on his social network after the Iranian vice minister's statements.

The American portal Axios had reported on Sunday night that the United States and Iran agreed to stop the bombings of recent days and meet this week in Qatar.

On June 21, Iran and the United States agreed on a 60-day roadmap to reach a nuclear deal and lasting peace after a memorandum of understanding that settled the fire after more than 100 days of war and allowed the Strait of Hormuz to reopen.

However, tension returned in recent days, with Iranian attacks against several ships and US bombings against military targets on the southern coast of the Persian country.

Tehran later responded with attacks on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain.
