Allan Saint-Maximin came to Mexican football with many expectations placed on him. The French forward could not meet the level required for a player in his hierarchy. Saint-Maximin walked through the back door of Club America and the player himself explained his reasons.
Despite his low performance in Mexican football, Allan Saint-Maximin had the opportunity to stay in the team to claim in subsequent seasons with the club. However, the children of the French forward would have been victims of an episode of racism in school. This was the drop that poured out the glass in Allan's patience.
“Some things happened to my children in school...I explained to the kids that what happened was not normal and that they already knew it, it didn’t make them a lot of fun (...) It made me a little pity that of my son, but this kind of things happen everywhere, even in France, my country of origin. As I told them, they don’t have to accept it,” the French footballer said in an interview with the BBC.

Allan Saint-Maximin acknowledged that it was not an easy decision to leave the Eagles of America. However, his departure from Mexico was a consensus. Saint-Maximin regretted that by the attitude of a few, he and his family had to make such a radical decision.
“They’re just random people who say things and try to attack your family. You never really know who they support or why they do, but when this affects your children, there are not many options. It was a difficult decision for me and my family, but I assume my responsibility because I always say I will never accept such things," he said.
Allan Saint-Maximin clarified that his departure from America was not directly related to some situation within the team.
“It wasn’t Club America’s fault, I don’t have anything against them, I don’t have anything against the players or the Mexican people. I love the club.
The French forward, former Newcastle player, played only 16 games with the America T-shirt.In just over 800 minutes inside the pitch, Allan Saint-Maximin could only score 3 goals and grant 2 assists.
