During a conversation with the specialized magazine The Ring, Edgar Berlanga evaluated the technical qualities of the 168-pound monarch, arguing that the offensive volume of the European fighter will not be enough to counteract the experience of the athlete from Jalisco on the mat.
“I really think Canelo could stop him,” declared Edgar Berlanga when breaking down the French champion's tools. "I don't consider Mbilli to be anything special. For me, he is a boxer who always goes forward, has good physical condition and throws a lot of punches. But in terms of boxing intelligence... I saw him fight against Sergiy Derevyanchenko, who literally fought with one hand and almost defeated him. His arm was useless; he had torn his bicep during the fight. That shows the level he is at as a boxer. Still, I think it will be a great fight. I just watch Canelo. winning,” argued the boxer.
The route to an eventual rematch with Canelo
Edgar Berlanga's projection maintains that a victory in Middle Eastern territory will mark the formal re-entry of the Aztec boxer into the dispute for the unified crowns of the division.
“I think (a victory will show) that he has returned,” the athlete stated in his dialogue with the aforementioned media, adding about the Mexican's goals that “he will try to win all the titles again and will seek to be the undisputed champion.”
Likewise, the Puerto Rican boxer did not hide his interest in scheduling a second confrontation against the Guadalajara corner during the following competition season. For Edgar Berlanga, the viability of a rematch will require the prior achievement of a world belt in his personal history: "I really believe that we could organize a rematch between him and me. A fight between Canelo and I is another great fight that could happen in the future. I just need to win a title. I have to beat a big name and, then, I think that fight will be within reach," he pointed out to The Ring.
