The voting committee determined the inclusion of athletes, coaches, promoters and officials who actively contributed to the consolidation of boxing at an international level.

The reaction and legacy of a middleweight dominator

Following confirmation of his entry into his first year of eligibility in the voting system, Gennady Golovkin spoke about this milestone through his official digital broadcast channels. The Kazakh athlete valued the long journey he took from his stages in the amateur sector to reaching the top of the professional field in the most important rings in the United States.

“I have been in boxing for 35 years, a long and challenging path… Now my name is part of the history of world boxing,” Gennady Golovkin shared in his public statement upon assimilating the distinction awarded by the jury.

This recognition crowns a career that spanned more than three decades of constant dedication to sports preparation.

Gennady Golovkin's professional career concluded with a record of 42 wins, two losses and one draw, including a record of 37 finishes by knockout. His period of absolute dominance at 160 pounds allowed him to unify the WBA, WBC and IBF crowns, in addition to equaling the historical mark of 20 consecutive world championship defenses in that category.

The weight of international legends

In addition to the presence of Gennady Golovkin, the Class of 2026 added to its list of former professional boxers the British Nigel Benn, who held world titles in the middleweight and super middleweight divisions. Benn accumulated a record of 42 wins with 35 knockouts, standing out in the United Kingdom market for an offensive fighting style and a fast-track finishing percentage of over 80 percent.

Women's boxing has a very relevant representation in this induction period with the arrival of the Mexican Jackie Nava to the venue of the immortals. The Tijuana fighter recorded a record of 40 wins, four losses and four draws, becoming the first WBC super bantamweight champion and a technical reference for new generations of athletes in her country.

When evaluating her arrival to the Hall of Fame, the Mexican boxer spoke with the information portal Heraldo Deportes to explain the objectives that defined her longevity in combat sports. "Really, for me it was about being a champion, but something that I really put into my head is leaving a mark. Leaving a mark on those who come," she declared, adding about the generational change: "How is it that a girl wants to be like you? For me it is like a prize."
