The Los Angeles Lakers are losing one of their emblems. Lawrence Tanter, the iconic voice of Crypto.cpm Arena, has passed away at the age of 76. Tanter was already away from his passion for health problems. Lawrence Tanter died on the night of Wednesday, September 23 and joined the NBA world.
Unknown are the causes and the official medical part of Lawrence Tanter’s death, however, his state of health was already deteriorating in the last year.
“The Lakers mourn the passing of legendary advertiser Lawrence Tanter, who played as the team’s iconic voice for 43 seasons. He will be remembered forever as a beloved member of the Lakers family,” the group wrote on social media.

In March 2026, Lawrence Tanter suffered a stroke that prevented him from being at the Lakers home in the last six matches of the regular season and his subsequent participation in the Playoffs. Because of his health complications, Tanter decided to be a step to the side in June.
In this sense, Lawrence Tanter would have cut off with his 43-season run on the microphones of the Los Angeles Lakers house as an advertiser.
“Lawrence was a true original who added his unique style to Showtime. His voice was synonymous with the Lakers basketball. We will be deeply surprised,” wrote Jeanie Buss, former majority owner of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Lawrence Tanter was present in 10 NBA championships won by the Los Angeles Lakers. In addition, Tanter presented major sports legends who uniformed themselves with the Algerian ensemble, including Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Nea and the recent duo between LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
