The welterweight world champion of the World Boxing Council, Ryan Garcia, refines the last details of his physical preparation to face the first defense of his belt against the British Conor Benn on September 12 in Las Vegas.

However, the North American boxer has diverted attention from his immediate commitment by openly mentioning his intentions to face other leaders in the category such as Teofimo Lopez, Rolando Romero and Shakur Stevenson.

The ruling out of an immediate rematch against Devin Haney

When questioned by the specialized press about a second confrontation against Devin Haney, Ryan Garcia dismissed the urgency of agreeing on said rematch in the near future. The athlete with Mexican roots argued that the responsibility of seeking the agreement falls on his opponents, due to the commercial attraction generated by his stellar presentations on the main streaming platforms.

"I'm in no hurry for that fight to happen. They have to accept defeat," declared Ryan García.

"Why do I have to beg for her? I'm here. I'm about to defeat Conor Benn. I want Teófimo Lopez, Rolando Romero and Shakur Stevenson. I have many options. Right now I'm not worried about Haney. If it happens, it happens," said the boxer of Mexican descent.
