Nearly 37, 000 members of the United Teachers of Los Angeles ( UTLA ) union authorized their leaders to declare a strike if contract negotiations with the District don't go ahead. Los Angeles Unified School District ( LAUSD ) is a public school.
The results of the vote, which took place between January 27 and February 29, were made public on Saturday night.
The teachers who are people of UTLA have taken a hard line in a fight that has lasted for a year because of their position.
