An Alaska Airlines flight preparing to take off from Miami International Airport bound for Seattle was stopped during taxiing after crew members reported threats from passengers and a possible attempt to take control of the aircraft.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:40 p.m. m. on Sunday, when flight 305, operated in a Boeing 737, was on the runway before taking off.

In a communication with air traffic control, the pilot reported that he had activated a security protocol and that the aircraft would remain stopped due to a disturbance between passengers.

“We have a customer disturbance on board at this time, with threats coming from customers,” the pilot said, according to a recording of air control communications obtained by ATCapp.

The captain further reported that the crew had decided to shut down the engines and keep the parking brake engaged while the situation was assessed.

Minutes later, the pilot reported that the flight attendants had received threats and that one of the passengers had threatened to take control of the plane.

When the controller asked if the crew needed the presence of police officers, the response was immediate: “Absolutely.”

The aircraft returned to the boarding gate

Given the situation, agents from the airport division of the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office went to one of the airport gates.

The passengers were temporarily disembarked while authorities investigated what happened.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office later confirmed that its deputies responded after a crew member reported "possible suspicious activity."

“Out of an abundance of caution, the passengers were temporarily disembarked while officers investigated the incident,” the police office said.

After reviewing the situation, authorities determined that there was no credible threat.

Two passengers identified as responsible for the disruption were removed from the flight and subsequently temporarily banned from traveling with the company by Alaska Airlines.

The rest of the passengers were able to return to the aircraft once the police inspection was completed.

The flight continued to Seattle

Alaska Airlines confirmed that two passengers had engaged in disruptive behavior during the taxiing of Flight 305.

“Two passengers aboard Alaska Airlines Flight 305 from Miami (MIA) to Seattle (SEA) were disruptive during taxiing,” an airline spokesperson said.

“The safety of our passengers and our crew is always our top priority,” said the company, which also apologized to other travelers for the delay caused.

Once the procedure was completed, the Boeing 737 took off again and completed its trip to Seattle. According to FlightRadar24 data cited in reports about the incident, the flight arrived at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport around 10:00 p.m. m.

The episode occurs in a context of persistent incidents related to disruptive passengers on commercial flights in the United States.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as of August 2026, 1,014 incidents of disruptive or undisciplined passengers had been recorded.
