California free from drought after 25 years
Winter storms in late 2025 helped end all drought conditions in California for the first time since 2000
California is the first state in 25 times to be free of rainfall.
No sign of drought has been found in any of the country's 58 counties in Dorado, according to the most recent statement from the U. S. Drought Monitor, as of January 6, 2026.
After a number of winter storms that accumulated significant amounts of rain in California during the last few months of the year, particularly during the state's southeastern holidays, were possible drought conditions eliminated.
