A judge on Tuesday found the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in contempt for a case related to compliance with an order regarding last year's immigration raids in the Los Angeles area.

U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong of the Central District of California charged DHS with allegedly delaying digital copies of communications from personal cell phones used by federal agents during immigration operations.

In January, Judge Frimpong had already ordered the federal government to obtain forensic images of the personal cell phones of more than 800 agents involved in immigration raids, which have intensified since June 2025.
