Given the damage caused by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake that shook the country on Monday morning with major damage in three cities in Colombia, through some actions, LATAM Airlines announced that it will support travelers whose destinations are Cali, Pereira and Armenia.

Through a statement, the largest airline group in South America will implement a series of flexibility measures to facilitate the rescheduling of trips for those who already have previously purchased tickets to fly soon and who wish to use them for later dates.

In this way, passengers with flights scheduled between August 10 and 16, 2026 from or to Pereira, Cali and Armenia will have the option to reschedule them, at no cost, without fine or fare difference.

Likewise, those who are interested in requesting a full refund of the amount paid can access this.

The company notes that a route change will be subject to availability of seats in the same cabin as the original ticket.

On the other hand, LATAM Airlines Colombia highlighted that, as a self-regulation measure and given the increase in demand, it chose to establish fare caps for routes originating or ending in Cali, Armenia and Pereira.

While the search for survivors continues among collapsed buildings in the aforementioned cities, the most recent death toll exceeds 200 victims and there are reports of nearly 1,200 injured.

For its part, the US government, through the Department of State, announced initial aid of $15.5 million dollars in support of the rescue strategy for victims and affected people implemented by President Abelardo de la Espriella.

Additionally, the Trump administration activated a Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART) to support the critical operations of Colombian authorities and organizations that are redoubling efforts to facilitate the search for survivors trapped under the rubble of hundreds of properties that could not withstand the force of nature and ended up collapsing, causing pain and death.
