At least 19 states in the United States will start making minimum wage adjustments starting on January 1, 2026, with some now implementing annual raises and others being brought in line with higher prices.
The federal minimum wage is$ 7. 25 per hour, which is now required for many companies, which may increase costs for businesses and ultimately slow job growth. However, for some, it is a necessary measure given the high cost of living that has caused many Americans to live paycheck to paycheck.
The minimum wage increases may be implemented in two parts: some states may start with them on January 1st, and others will have them by the end of 2026.
