When questioned by a media representative about how members of the House of Representatives can convince their constituents that they are fighting to make life more affordable for them, the Republican literally scoffed.

"Affordability? What are you talking about?" he replied wryly.

He then boasted of the power of his wallet to pay for an expensive dinner that was unaffordable for a large sector of the population and his low salary, which contrasts with the increase in the cost of living since Trump returned to Washington.

"For the 4th of July, I'm going to buy a couple of big lobster tails and some nice rib steaks. I'm going to sit in my backyard with my family and my neighbors, and we'll enjoy the 4th of July, celebrating 250 years, the birthday of the United States," he detailed.

According to the results of a survey carried out in a coordinated manner by the television network CNN and SSRS, a prestigious company in charge of carrying out research on polls, 61% of the people consulted agreed that they had modified their food purchases with the aim of not seeing their daily budget affected as a result of the weakening of the US economy.

In fact, the report highlights how three out of 10 stated that they have resorted to using credit cards to purchase essential items.

Another fact to highlight is the annual variation in the consumer price index, which during February stood at 2.4% and for May it increased almost double to close at 4.2% in May.
