Scott Bessent, Secretary of the Treasury, announced that next week the Trump administration will implement new measures to economically isolate Iran as has never been seen before, with the aim of forcing his government to commit to guaranteeing the permanent opening of the Strait of Hormuz to navigation, in addition to not continuing with its uranium enrichment program.

During his participation in a program on the Newsmax television channel, the South Carolina official announced that a plan for more severe sanctions is being prepared to subdue the Islamic Republic.

“Stay tuned for more announcements next week, because we are going to apply measures never before seen in the history of the economic isolation of a country,” he said.

In addition to the bombings carried out on Iranian territory since February 28, the US government is looking for a way to tighten the naval blockade that has cost Tehran nearly $4.8 billion in oil revenues.

Donald Trump's primary objective is to completely cut off the flow of money and make his population suffer until a peace agreement is reached.

Based on this, Bessent proposes blocking “bank accounts, cryptocurrency wallets and assets from Iran throughout the world.”

Trump had previously stated that it is only a matter of time before Tehran ends its reluctance to give in to Washington's requests.

"They have no Navy, they have no Air Force, their remaining soldiers are unpaid, the Revolutionary Guard is decimated and on the run, and their 'leadership' is uncertain at best! They have no money: their country is 'destroyed,'" he wrote on the Truth Social platform.

It should be noted that the impossibility of ending the war in the Middle East once again tense the oil market, increasing the price of a barrel of oil.

In response, during a speech in New York, the nation's president stated that his next objective is to remove Iran's control of the Strait of Hormuz.

“Very soon I will declare the Strait of Hormuz a territory of the United States,” he indicated without offering details about what his new strategy will be to achieve this.
