Voto Latino launches 'El Brief' on TikTok, IG and YouTube to connect with Latin Generation Z
The initiative seeks to conquer the most popular social networks with news, culture and civic participation
Voto Latino presented 'El Brief', a new digital platform focused on bringing news, culture and civic participation to young Latinos who consume information mainly through social networks.
The project is aimed at Generation Z and the youngest millennials, under a strategy based on short formats, easy to understand and adapted to spaces such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, where this audience spends much of their time. According to information released by the organization itself, 'El Brief' was born after years of research and a digital listening process focused on knowing how young Latinos receive information, what topics they are concerned about and what type of content generates trust.
A bet against digital misinformation
The arrival of this platform occurs in a scenario where the organization warns about the growth of disinformation campaigns aimed at Latin communities on the internet. Voto Latino noted that approximately one million Latinos reach voting age each year, while more than 2 million new Latino voters have joined since the 2024 elections.
The content of 'The Brief' will include simple explanations on topics such as economy, immigration, education, health and issues that impact the daily lives of young people.
María Teresa Kumar, president and co-founder of the Voto Latino Foundation, explained that the organization's mission has always been to get closer to the community in the spaces where it already participates.
“When we founded the Voto Latino Foundation, our mission was simple: reach people where they are,” Kumar said. He added that the new platform represents “the next chapter of that mission” for young people to find authentic and accessible information.
News created from the Latin community
In addition to informative content, 'The Brief' will include interviews, collaborations with digital creators, community stories and trend analysis to maintain relevant conversations in real time.
Rosario Dawson, actress and co-founder of the organization, highlighted that citizen participation begins long before going to the polls.
“Civic engagement doesn't start at the polls; it starts with feeling informed, seen and connected to one's community,” he said.
With this initiative, Voto Latino seeks to build a digital space where new generations find reliable information, with a narrative created “by and for” the Latino community.
