Amazon has reached a landmark settlement with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) after being accused of misleading millions of users into subscribing to its Prime service and making the cancellation process unnecessarily difficult. As part of the agreement, Amazon will pay a massive sum in compensation — and part of that amount could go directly to you.

Why does Amazon owe you money?

The FTC alleged that Amazon used “sophisticated subscription traps” to trick consumers into enrolling in Prime — sometimes without their clear consent. Moreover, the cancellation procedure was designed to be confusing and time-consuming. After a long legal battle, Amazon has agreed to pay $2.5 billion in total, of which $1.5 billion will be distributed as refunds to affected customers.

How and When You’ll Receive Your Payment

The refund process will take place in two distinct phases. Make sure to stay updated so you don’t miss your opportunity to claim the payment that may be rightfully yours.
