The Mazda CX-5 2026 has traveled more than 10,000 miles and, although itins a positive rating for its behavior on the road and comfort, there is a detail that continues to generate annoyances.

The central screen continues to display locks, even after you go through the dealer to receive a software update.

The disadvantage is not limited to a screen that delays in reacting. At certain moments, the system stops responding and affects access to functions that now depend almost entirely on the touch interface.

The Premium Plus version uses a 15.6-inch screen, while other configurations feature a 12.9-inch drive. The system also incorporates facial recognition, personalized profiles and different assistance functions.

The problem is that it does not always work consistently. Freezes, slow responses and warnings related to driving assistance have been presented. There were even occasions when it was impossible to change the navigation, radio or some air conditioning controls.

A visit to the technical service allowed the installation of an update, but the solution was not definitive. After exceeding 10,000 miles, the locks still appear, though in a different way than recorded during the first months.

The situation becomes more uncomfortable when the failure occurs while the vehicle is in motion. In one of the episodes recorded during a summer trip, the screen remained unused for several hours.

The air conditioning continued to work, but it was not possible to adjust the temperature or the speed of the fan from the interface.

Intermittent alerts related to the i-Activsense system, including adaptive cruise control, have also appeared.

Outside this technological section, the CX-5 2026 retains several of its strong cards. The second row offers more leg space and the cabin is comfortable for passengers.

The tested unit carries an atmospheric 2.5 litre engine with 187 hp and 186 lb-pie torque, associated with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Its acceleration from 0 to 60 mph was 8.0 seconds.

The average consumption reached 26 mpg and the observed range was around 390 miles with a 15.3 gallon tank. The sound insulation also highlighted, with 67 decibels recorded at 70 mph.

The CX-5 remains an interesting alternative for its handling, interior space and mechanics.H, the experience with the screen makes it clear that Mazda still has work to do in the digital segment.

For those who are thinking about buying a CX-5 2026, the recommendation is simple. Before signing, it’s worth testing the screen, air conditioning and support functions thoroughly to make sure everything responds as it should.
