Authorities identified the two women who died during a shooting inside a home in Gastonia, North Carolina, while the two main suspects of the attack died the following day during a police pursuit in Ohio.
Victoria "Heather" Moore, 50, and Megan "Josiah" Moore, 38, were found dead in a house near Forbes Road on Thursday, Gaston County Police said.
Two others were injured and remained hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Investigators identified 26-year-old Camryn Moore and 29-year-old Cory Armstrong as the main suspects, both of whom lived in the apartment, according to authorities, and fled after the shooting.
The police had requested the collaboration of the U.S. Alguaciles Service to locate them.The two would face charges for two murders and two assassination attempts.
The search ended on Friday, when the Ohio State Road Patrol located the vehicle in which Moore and Armstrong were travelling.
The officers tried to stop them, but they both fled, which triggered a pursuit.
According to the authorities, the vehicle crashed after the suspects attempted to evade a band of beads placed by the officers.
Officers later hearing two shots coming from inside the vehicle.
A drone was used to observe the car and officers found Moore and Armstrong dead inside.
Authorities have not informed who carried out the shootings nor have they publicly explained the exact circumstances that led to their deaths.
Gaston County Police said the location of the suspects put an end to the search, but not to the investigation into what happened inside the house.
“This was a tragic act of violence that resulted in the loss of several lives and left other people seriously wounded,” the department said.
The investigation began after police received a call to 911 reporting a shooting near Forbes Road.
When police arrived, they found the victims inside.
A neighbor told WSOC-TV he heard between five and six shots.
Authorities have not revealed what provoked the attack nor have they publicly established what the relationship between all the people involved was.
Public records and social media posts indicate that Camryn Moore was the daughter of Victoria Moore.
The information available also points out that both had shared family moments.In a previous post, Victoria Moore appeared alongside three of her daughters, including Camryn.
In a professional profile, Victoria described her family and said she had five children: four wives and a man.
“They keep us busy.We love the movies outdoors, the s’mores around the fireplace and the games nights,” he wrote in an interview published by the company for which he worked.
Moore was working on data processing for a trading company, according to his LinkedIn profile.
In that same interview, she described her home, her pets and the activities she shared with her family as an important part of her life.
The search for the suspects involved police agencies in several states and the U.S. Alguaciles Service.
Gaston County Police thanked the collaboration of Ohio authorities and other local, state and federal agencies involved in locating the vehicle.
The department noted that coordination between its detectives and the various agencies allowed the suspects to be tracked across several states.
Although Moore and Armstrong have already been localized, investigators will continue to gather evidence to determine what happened before, during and after the Gastonia shooting.
The two survivors remain hospitalized in critical but stable condition, according to authorities.
