American artist Doja Cat surprised her followers after making a series of statements in which she openly addressed her past battles against addictions, mental health complications and the constant pressure of the digital environment.

Through a sequence of videos posted on her official TikTok account, the singer of “Say So” and “Paint The Town Network” decided to speak out loud to clarify controversies and share the status of her personal healing process.

In her testimony, the Grammy winner admitted to having had difficult episodes linked to drug use in the past, explicitly revealing that she faced serious problems with cocaine about eight years ago, a stage she assured to have left behind.

The rapper also deepened her relationship with alcohol and how it affected her behavior on digital platforms. Although she clarified that she never considered herself alcoholic in a strict sense, she recognized that alcohol consumption represented a problematic dynamic in her life.

The combination between alcohol, an undiagnosed mental health condition at the time, and the search for validation on social media generated a destructive spiral that exacerbated negative thoughts about herself.

The performer stressed that making these experiences public was a vital step for her personal growth and emotional well-being, stating that she felt the need to get rid of that accumulated weight to heal properly.

In addition to addressing her addictions, Doja Cat seized the opportunity to sharply dismiss various rumors and accusations circulating on the network about her ideology and identity. The singer categorically rejected any link with hate speech or racism, while reflecting on the challenges she faced since childhood by growing up as a birracial woman in a predominantly white environment.

With these statements, the artist not only seeks to close shady chapters of her career, but also to raise awareness to her audience about the danger of mixing addictions, emotional voids and the permanent scrutiny of social media.
