A controversy has erupted surrounding the YouTube series "The VIP Farm 2" following the circulation of videos on social media that appear to show content creator Manelyk González Barrera, 37, verbally abusing a rescued dog named "Tlacoyo".
A viral video clip circulating primarily on TikTok shows a dog appearing in a barrier area where pedestrians often sleep. The animal is seen positioned near a door and is observed sniffing objects on one of the beds. In the accompanying audio, a person can be heard running and warning others not to approach the beds, stating "Don't go up to the beds, pinch dog.
Cybercriminals claim that the voice in question belongs to Manelyk, a participant in the current season of the show. In online posts, the individual is being targeted for verbal abuse and is being called out for their behavior, with a demand for sanctions. The incident reportedly involves "Tlacoyo," a dog that joined the program as a farmer on October 4, number 21.
A TikTok user, Luna, posted a video addressing controversy surrounding the treatment of a dog, nicknamed "Tlacoyo," which some claim is being neglected. The video invites viewers to listen to Manelyk's perspective on the matter. In response, several commenters expressed criticism, suggesting that the dog is being unfairly treated when alone on camera, and calling for consequences for the influencer. Others noted that Ivonne appears to be the only one showing affection towards the animal.
A video posted by Reality Nove on the same platform has sparked criticism, with some commenters accusing the participant of only performing for the cameras and allegedly subjecting the dog to verbal abuse, while also claiming that the production team is failing to address the issue.
Several individuals came to Manelyk's defense, arguing that her comments were a form of self-expression. They noted that her communication style is often similar to the way she speaks to her pet, "Jacinto", suggesting that her tone was not intended to be taken literally.
Several individuals have noted that addressing one's dog in a formal manner does not necessarily indicate a lack of affection or emotional connection.
In Mexico, high-ranking government officials have publicly commented on the issue, including Leticia Varela Martínez, Magistrate of the Federal Court of Conciliation and Arbitration (TFCA), who expressed her concerns on social media platform Twitter about an alleged improper treatment of Tlacoyo.
Following a concerning incident, Martínez requested that TV Azteca production take immediate action to ensure the well-being of the animal involved. This request stems from observations that the Mono Osuna attempted to intervene in the dog's movement, and a chilling sound was heard in the process.
Representatives for the production of "The VIP Farm" have declined to address the matter at this time.
A video posted by the Mexican reality TV show La Granja VIP has been deleted from social media, sparking concerns about animal welfare. The incident has been reported to authorities, as it may constitute animal abuse. The show, which features celebrities competing in farm-related challenges, has been accused of mistreating animals.
