The announcement was made by the actor himself during his participation at the “Fanatics Fest” event in New York. Before the fans of the franchise, Reynolds dispelled doubts about the continuity of the character and made it clear that the journey of the mercenary in the red suit is far from over in the cinema.
"There are things on the way. Eventually there will be another Deadpool movie," said the 49-year-old performer.
During his speech, Reynolds announced that the new project will seek to rescue passages and deep references from the comics that have not yet been adapted into films. In particular, he highlighted the influence of the stages written by Fabian Nicieza – co-creator of the character – and screenwriter Gerry Duggan. “There are some incredible elements of comics that I love that have yet to be shown on the big screen,” he added.
Although the feature film is in an early stage of gestation and does not yet have a director or a team of screenwriters formally attached, Reynolds' statement represents the clearest sign of Marvel Studios' commitment to the franchise.
However, the actor has previously hinted that the narrative approach could evolve. Instead of focusing the plot exclusively on Wade Wilson as in the original trilogy, Reynolds has expressed interest in exploring the character within a group format or in a supporting role, interacting with other heroes from the Marvel universe.
