A man from Wisconsin is sought by authorities after a dispute for a PlayStation console allegedly ended in the shooting death of another man in Milwaukee.
21-year-old Darrius S. Shelton is accused of imprudent murder for the death of 37-year-old Marris Virgil, the Milwaukee Police Department said.
The incident occurred on September 4 in a house located on West Keefe Avenue.
The agent entered the house and found Virgil on the floor of a room located on the second floor. The man had multiple bullet wounds on his chest and face, according to the indictment.
Paramedics carried out resuscitation maneuvers but were unable to save him, Virgil died on the spot, police said.
The forensic doctor later determined that he received four shots: one in his left arm, one in his chest, and two in his back.
Detectives found several 9mm ammunition casks inside the house, including two near Virgil's body, authorities said.
A woman who identified herself to the investigators as Virgil’s sentimental partner for several years ago what happened before the shooting.
According to the statement of probable cause, the woman arrived at the house shortly before the incident and found her children, 10 and 11, playing video games on a PlayStation along with Shelton, who was a cousin of the minors.
The woman told the detectives that a dispute began between Virgil and Shelton about who was the owner of the console and who had the right to keep it.
The court document notes that both men began to argue for the PlayStation and that the dispute was increasing in intensity.
According to the woman’s testimony, the two men came to place themselves “chest against chest”, in a posture she described as aggressive.
The woman explained that she moved away from the conversation for a moment and then heard several shots.
When he turned his eyes toward the men, according to his statement to the police, he saw Shelton holding a gun.
The woman also said Shelton pointed the gun at her and threatened to shoot her.
After the shooting, Shelton left the place, according to the testimony.
Another person interviewed by the detectives provided information about the origin of the dispute.
According to that testimony, Virgil had originally bought the PlayStation, however, the console stopped working properly at some point and Shelton would have paid to repair it.
That fact would have provoked disagreement about who should stay with the apparatus.
Virgil's couple told investigators that they even offered to give Shelton $260 to resolve the dispute, but that he rejected the money.
Authorities have not any other wounded in the shooting.
Shelton is not detained and there is an arrest warrant against him, WDJT, a local CBS affiliate,.
The case remains under investigation as authorities try to locate the suspect.
