Great news for fans of The Hunger Games. Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the franchise’s new release, titled “Sunrise on the Reaping” and centered on a younger version of “Haymitch Abernathy”, mentor of “Katniss” and “Peeta” in the original film.
In just 2 minutes, the clip gives an extended look at the events that mark the story written by Suzanne Collins.
Developed in Panem, 24 years before the events of “The Hunger Games”, the looks focus on the mentor of “Katniss” and “Peeta”, “Haymitch Abernathy”, played by Joseph Zada.
The clip, broadcast from YouTube and Instagram, shows the sand and obstacles he will face in the company of another tribute, Maysilee Donner (Mckenna Grace), with whom he joins to challenge the control of the Capitol under President Snow (Ralph Fiennes).
In addition to Joseph Zada, Mckenna Grace and Ralph Fiennes, the cast of “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping” includes Ben Wang as “Wyatt” and Molly McCann as “Louella”, the other tribute of District 12 alongside Haymitch in the 50th edition of the Hunger Games.
Glenn Close adds as “Drusilla Sickle”, Kieran Culkin as a young version of “Caesar Flickerman”, Elle Fanning as a young “Effie Trinket”, Billy Porter as “Magno Stift” and Maya Hawke as a young “Wiress”, to name a few.
According to Lionsgate, “The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping,” directed by Francis Lawrence, will premiere in cinemas around the world on November 20, 2026.
