Although her goal is to expand medical care, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), a congresswoman from New York, does not rule out the option of running as a Democratic candidate for president in 2028.

"Could she be president? Could she not be? Maybe yes, maybe not," she responded in an interview with Fox News Digital about the possibility of her name being added to the ballot.

He then stressed that beyond thinking about aspiring to a representative position above the one he occupies, his interest lies in achieving universal health coverage.

“What matters most is that we guarantee medical care in this country,” he emphasized.

Given the lack of high-profile candidates and in the midst of restructuring within the Democratic Party, AOC is considered a possible candidate to run for the White House in a couple of years.

“The most important thing is that everyone in this country has access to medical care,” the Democrat usually expresses at the events in which she usually participates.

In an interview with David Axelrod, a Democratic strategist, the American of Puerto Rican descent reiterated that her political fight is to improve the health of all citizens regardless of their political affiliation.

“Presidents come and go, seats in the Senate and House of Representatives, elected officials come and go, but universal healthcare lasts forever.

A living wage is forever. Workers' rights last forever. Women's rights, all that,” she said.

According to the results of a survey carried out towards the end of last year by Verasight, a market research and public opinion platform, Ocasio-Cortez surpassed Vice President James David Vance in a hypothetical confrontation between the two with citizen support of 51% against 49%.

From that data, the 36-year-old New Yorker has placed herself in a stronger position with respect to other Democratic presidential candidates such as Gavin Newsom, governor of California; and Josh Shapiro, governor of Pennsylvania.

Who could perhaps be her most difficult opponent to defeat in her party would be Pete Buttigieg, since the former Secretary of Transportation is still better positioned than her.
