Based on that information, the Justice Department dropped the destruction of property charge against Hearn.

However, Trump rejected that explanation and maintained that the damage was caused by people who vandalized the place.

The president had already expressed his disagreement on social networks by ensuring that he was “100% in disagreement with Jeanine Pirro” and that, although there may have been faults on the part of the contractor, “the main damage was caused by VANDALS.”

The criticism draws attention because Pirro was for years one of Trump's main defenders on television and was later appointed by him as a federal prosecutor in Washington.

And while Trump insists there was vandalism, government documents point to construction errors as the primary cause of the pond's deterioration.
