Badou Jack doesn't believe Paul can withstand a round against Joshua
Badou Jack commented that it will be an easy night for Joshua, but acknowledges that Paul deserves all the credit for accepting the fight against the former champion
Badou Jack, former WBC cruiserweight champion, doesn't believe Jake Paul can withstand a full round against Anthony Joshua this Friday, December 19, at the Kaseya Center in Miami.
In an interview with The Ring magazine, Jack commented that it will be an easy night for Joshua, but acknowledges that Paul deserves all the credit for accepting the fight against the former champion.
“Jake Paul is the man who generates the most money right now, so everyone wants to fight him. I think Jake Paul is definitely good for the sport. He organizes big events and takes care of women's boxing. But it's easy money. It's an easy fight for a lot of money. You have to give him credit for fighting AJ,” he said.
“I can't imagine Jake Paul lasting more than half a round with AJ. It should be a quick night. AJ is a big name, and from a business point of view, it makes a lot of sense. For Paul's career, it doesn't make sense. The fight will last eight rounds—each three minutes long—10-ounce gloves will be used, and it will be streamed worldwide on Netflix. The YouTuber-turned-boxer had planned to fight Gervonta Davis on November 14th, but because 'Tank' was recently accused by his ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel of assault, kidnapping, and unlawful imprisonment, the fight was canceled. Paul expressed his anger over what happened and assured everyone he would find an opponent soon. To everyone's surprise, the influencer chose Joshua, and most sports experts predict the Briton should win easily by knockout. However, some experts, like Tyson Fury, see the American fighter as having a chance. Anthony Joshua, 36, was knocked out in his last fight against Daniel Dubois last September. The WBA lightweight champion has a record of 28 wins.25 of them by knockout, and four losses.
Meanwhile, Jake Paul, 27,has five wins after suffering his first loss to Tommy Fury by split decision, brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. The American YouTuber also has a record of 12 wins (six by knockout) and one loss.
