After being crowned unified 200-pound champion by beating Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramírez from Sinaloa, the athlete of Mexican-American origin set his goals in a division very distant from that of the Guadalajara monarch.

When questioned about the viability of agreeing to the confrontation at 175 pounds, a category where the Jalisco native has competed on two previous occasions, Eddy Reynoso was categorical in dismissing any commercial approach during his dialogue with the specialized magazine.

"That fight against Benavidez no longer exists. There was a time when it could have been finalized at 168 pounds, but it didn't happen, so there is nothing to do. Now he fights at cruiserweight. Benavidez has more possibilities of fighting Oleksandr Usyk than against Canelo," argued Eddy Reynoso.
