The Argentine Horacio Elizondo, the head of the Referee Commission, has taken on the task of finding a new starting referee, given the lack of credibility that has been caused by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR ) system in Liga MX, and it wouldn't surprise if he were also a foreigner.

Elizondo has begun looking for Chacon's alternative after the departures of Miguel Angel Chacon and Jorge Perez Duran, who both led the Som program, due to the pressure from the Liga MX groups. The research extends beyond Mexico's edges.

The Liga MX high command has given Horacio Elizondo clear instructions to conduct a research both inside and outside of Mexico for the person who will get over this crucial role in the refereeing system, where VAR complaints have become more frequent in each of the last two competitions.

The reality is that after Cruz Azul and Pumas ' match on matchday 17, a VAR error by both Cesar Ramos and Fernando Hernandez failed to issue a red card for the Filipino Adalberto's harsh address, the system was corrected.

Carrasquilla's complaint about the Colombian goalkeeper caused things to get very tense among the referees themselves. This incident, in which the referee complained about the lack of support from Cesar Ramos in the VAR room, stating that he hadn't been shown the correct angle of the play, created a very tense atmosphere heading into the playoffs. The refereeing leadership decided not to use this review system again in the finals, leading teams to complain of being completely defenseless. For this reason, Elizondo tightened the VAR regulations and ordered referees not to use this system to determine the course of a match, taking into account that the position of director is now vacant and he has undertaken the task of finding a new head for this essential area in modern football, and therefore they will not hesitate to bring in someone from outside.

Given the current decline in trust in the refereeing career, particularly in regard to VAR, where the failures in reviewing plays have left no one satisfied, Elizondo, in his inner circle, has stated that it won't matter if this person is unusual or national. Therefore, an effort will be made to maintain this place and alleviate the lack of confidence in the umpires ' efforts.
