Major races in the state's primaries, such as California governor and Los Angeles mayor, could be decided up to several days after polls close due to the close fight between the candidates.

According to the latest polls prior to Election Day, the race for governor was led by former California Attorney General, Democrat Xavier Becerra, with a certain lead over former Fox News host, Republican Steve Hilton, and Democrat Tom Steyer.

Regardless of the percentage of votes, the two candidates who obtain the greatest number of ballots in their favor will advance to the general election, scheduled for November 3.
