After messages from alleged members of the US Navy were spread on social media warning about attempts by people trying to jump into the sea from the side of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln due to the desperation of having not touched land for months and unprotected in the middle of the sea, Senate Democrats are demanding that the Trump administration clarify the situation.
Through a letter addressed to Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense, and Hung Cao, Acting Secretary of the Navy; Democrat Richard Blumenthal, in his capacity as a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, seeks to clarify whether suicide attempts are occurring among soldiers deployed near the Strait of Hormuz, in addition to knowing the conditions that prevail inside the imposing nuclear-powered vessel, as there is talk of a shortage of supplies, water contamination and deterioration of mental health.
“There are reports of security problems on deck and disruptions in the postal system that have caused many aid packages destined for the ship to be lost for months in transit,” part of the text indicates.
Blumenthal believes that one of the possible triggers for the problems inside the US vessels parked in the Gulf of Oman is that their crew members have not touched land since November.
"The Lincoln case is not an isolated case. Recent aircraft carrier deployments have repeatedly extended beyond their initially planned duration, suggesting that extended deployments may be becoming a feature, rather than an exception, of the Navy's force generation model," he said.

"I am pushing for an official, bipartisan oversight visit to the USS Lincoln. It is clear that Donald Trump, who avoided active duty, does not care at all about the health and safety of our military. Congress must do its duty and hold this administration accountable," he said.
