Fires intensify in the northwest of the United States

The fires affecting the northwest of the United States intensified, leaving a record in the state of Oregon, which recorded the worst forest fire season in its history, with almost 809,000 hectares burned.
The Oregon Department of Forestry announced this Monday that the record for burned land set in 2024 was surpassed with around 769,000 hectares burned.
Oregon has recorded more than 1,300 fires so far this year, with three months left in the fire season, and this Monday it is the state with the most active fires in the country (20).
The state has faced extremely dangerous fire conditions, as wind gusts of up to 80 kilometers per hour were recorded in much of the state this weekend, with high temperatures and low humidity that fueled flame activity.
At least three new fires broke out over the weekend, prompting evacuation orders in parts of southern and central Oregon, where at least 20 homes were destroyed, according to the latest information provided by the state Department of Emergency Management.
The fire does not stop in Washington state
Despite the record, the country's eyes are on the state of Washington, the state most affected by conflagrations that offer no respite and have forced the evacuation of more than 65,000 people, while 700 homes have been destroyed in the city of Spokane, the second largest in the state.
The fires in Washington forced the Democratic governor, Bob Ferguson, to declare a state of emergency last Saturday.
So far there have been no deaths or injuries, although the authorities assure that they have not reached some areas devastated by three large fires, all of them out of control.
The state of Washington celebrates its primary elections this Tuesday, so electoral authorities face another challenge to facilitate participation for evacuees.
