Independence Day celebrations were marred by illegal fireworks explosions that occurred over the holiday weekend in Southern California.

Four people were injured, including a child, due to an explosion of illegal fireworks that occurred this Saturday night during the Fourth of July celebrations in the city of Chino, in San Bernardino County.

The incident happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. on D Street, where a large group of people had gathered to watch an Independence Day fireworks display.

Chino Police Department detectives said they believe a large amount of fireworks were ignited, causing the explosion that seriously injured three adults and a child and caused a vehicle to catch fire.
